Break is over – Time to Expose the Cats
I guess mentally, the blog turning six months gave me a mental lease on a vacation. There was more too it. Perhaps, it is as a friend of mine calls it, a perfect storm. This perfect storm made up of holidays, power outages, work, motivation or lack of it, and yes… once again quitting smoking. I thought I had nothing more to type about, and life brings me yet another perfect topic.
Gosh, I will spare you the details of the last three days of withdrawals, oh, not as bad as it all sounds. Well, I prepped a bit. Got the place spiffy after the last few weekends. Nothing makes the inhabitants of this house hold happier than a minor cleaning. Withdrawals in a nice comfy cave, is much easier than hanging out in a stressful place and getting through them. Laughs… oh wish me luck tomorrow…
As you might be able to tell my brain is not at its usual, so we shall see how it changes my writing style. I am NOT looking forward to work tomorrow. Nothing like having your chemicals rearranged and oxygen pumped into your bloodstream. I’m not looking forward to the 4 to 6 weeks of the hypers. Ah well… it is really really good thing that I’m quitting.
But enough about me…
It has been a long time since I have written anything about Mr. Yellow and Mr. Blue, and I have wanted to for a while now. It just so happens that I got a nifty camera for the holidays, and proceeded to chase them around the house today taking nifty pictures. Wow, have these little guys changed some since I first wrote about them six months ago.
Cat’s are the coolest animals. Well, animals in general. I’m about to release on to the Internet picture of one of my good buddies, Mr. Blue. And if they were pictures of me, I would be PISSED!
This is a photo of Mr. Blue watching the tube with the big guy. Yes, he is reaching for the remote, as his favorite show seems to be Top Chef. He meows insistently as we change to any channel with out food on it, and he starts a purring when ever someone mentions seared scallops.
Mr. Blue Belly
My fuzzy little guys both love to have their bellies rubbed. Mr. Blue loves it but is a little ticklish. So it becomes fun to watch him getting all conflicted about if he is liking his belly rub. He really does love it. The picture above is all but one second of me rubbing his tummy. He rolls right over, gets into any position I put him in, and waits for more. It is just the cutest and most wonderful thing.
Here is a fairer picture of my little friend Mr. Blue.
And Mr. Yellow?
Mr. Yellow has taken to more active pursuits. This little guy still wants to go outside when it is snowing out. Mr. Yellow is a little more active and a little more serious than his once mirror image brother. Still the more shy of the two. He is known as my kitty because he comes to me first as he always has. Not seemingly as fearless as Mr. Blue, who doesn’t run when I blow dry my hair. Mr. Yellow is the certainly the protector of the house. Keeping us safe from fuzzy intruders.
One thing we learned about Mr. Yellow, was that he is actually missing one of his teeth, and as a couple scars. We suspect that while roaming alone, he and Mr. Blue found some mean critters to fight before they made their way to the humane society. The other night when a probable stray made it into our garage, it was Mr. Yellow that went blindly into battle. He still has a bite mark on his ear and it looks like it may have gone all the way through.
We think Mr. Yellows patrols are where he loses his collar and tags. He doesn’t mind having them on, so we don’t think he is purposefully taking them off. We suspect that he has had help in taking them off, and probably not the most wanted of help.
Mr. Yellow is still more difficult to get a photo of than his less than camera shy bother. I finally snapped this one.
Some things haven’t changed…
Although, something’s have seemed to have changed, one thing and one that has made me smile many times has not…
They are still great buds. Although they don’t sleep crushed up against each other every night anymore, they still do on many nights. This is often my view as I smile and type my evenings post. Actually, they are in such a cute pose right now that if it wasn’t so late I would shoot the picture and post it.
Ahhh… we will just have to wait for another night.
Nite nite… (oh… and Happy New Year!)
