Fun in Dharma’s Kitchen – A Night of Color
I learned something about myself recently…
I think I really enjoy taking pictures of food…
I wish you could see some of these blown up. These were really meant to see in full size.
I know they are kind of dark. The darkness comes from my preference for natural light. Flash kind of turns me off, and to me the subject feels more real to me without flash.
It is probably something I need to get over. Jump into flash, or maybe take the bigger leap and do some post processing on the images.
I dunno… part of me is fighting it, but part of me also thinks…
… learning something new seems like icing on the cake…
What do you think? To dark?

Thank you…now I’m really hungry and inspired to bake something….bread pudding with ice cream (mmmmm) : )
I had considered sharing the recipe for the bread pudding pictured above. The bread pudding actually came out pretty darn good (cold and hot), but the part of it that inspired me to make it, the whiskey sauce, did not come out as I would have liked. I’m considering another go at the recipe but with a different whiskey sauce, perhaps even adding some crush wall nuts and some traditional “spice” or “carrot” cake makings… I have had a few that were a mixture of bread and spice cake that were unbelievable. If you have recommended recipes for any of this, I would definitely appreciate it.
Bread & Butter Pudding
Ingredients-
Butter or margarine
4-5 slices of bread from a medium sliced loaf
3/4 cup of sugar (can augment with 1/4 cup of brown sugar) with 1 tsp of cinnamon mixed in
1/2 cup of golden raisins (or more and various dried fruit and/or nuts)
2 cups of milk
2 eggs
Butter the bread and cut into triangles. Grease a 3-4 cup ovenproof dish and put in layers of bread, sugar and and raisins. Heat the
milk and pour over the beaten eggs (2 minutes on High, in a pyrex measuring cup works to just heat the milk and not boil…at low
altitude). Pour mixture over bread and fruit. Bake for 40-45 minutes at 350 degrees F. (177 C)
Can add topping, your favorite flan, crème caramel or…ice cream…mmmmm.
Ooo.. that looks good. Different than the recipe we made. I’m hunting for the best whiskey dressing for it.
I’m thinking I may need a recipe interface for the blog… hehehhehe
Ice cream…. mmmmmm….
