If you wonder where the name “Dharma Voyager” came from, it is the name that friends have called me for years now in the virtual world of Second Life. I could be found there in my zen/fairy persona, sometimes even in the form of a lion. Virtual worlds are so much fun, especially if you have an actively creative mind.
I still stop in to Second Life from time to time, to see old haunts and visit old friends. Part of this blog started as a kind of go between place for learning. A place between “reality” and Second Life. A place where my friends and I could talk about deeper subjects that we found curious, in a safe and agreeable atmosphere. That is where the name Dharma Voyager came from; and I still kind of like it
This blog is certianly not about Second Life, although I talk about various aspects of Second Life in it. Second Life was not the first virtual I have taken refuge on the Internet and it most probably won’t be the last. When I think of how long I have been on the Internet, how many friends I have found here, how many worlds, how many web pages, how many sites I have participated in, I start to feel as if I’m just a ghost in the machine. My synapses have started to creak and time seems to trail off in to memory, the beginnings of which seem far in the distance. Been here too long to remember. One thing this all has certainly given me is the certainty that a bit can have dust on it, or at least a collection of bits can represent gray hair.
Dharma V. has some gray on her now… but I’m glad she is still able to wonder. Welcome to my wonder…
Namsate,
Dharma V.
